Our day today was spent doing reading assessments with all the children. The assessments have reveled a lot to us which is exciting but also disappointing. Most of the children do not even know the sounds the letters make. This includes children as old as 14!! The amazing part of this is that all the material that we brought is EXACTLY what we need. It could not have been planned any better; GOD IS GOOD!! The children are also very excited and ready to learn. Please pray that they will each be an open vessel ready to soak up every bit of knowledge that we introduce to them.
Out of all the children that are here at the village, 6 of them are at least at a 6th grade level. I will be working with them tomorrow doing further assessments. The rest of the team will be working with the remaining children in groups that they have been assigned to by there assessment scores. Tomorrow will be the first day of teaching so please keep everyone in your prayers. I know that God is going to do a mighty work tomorrow and I can't wait to see everything reveled.
God Bless!!
alright this is my third time trying to post a comment. Wow sounds like there is a lot of work to be done. God definitely knows what those kids need and His plan is pretty big for such a small but mighty team. I am so glad that everything you brought is necessary and I am sure that the kids are excited about learning in a new way. What kids are you working with and how is it going? Thanks for keeping us updated i am loving it. Am continuing to pray for you although it is sporadic. Tell everyone hi. Am missing you guys
ReplyDeleteIt is so strange that all your postings are seen on my computer as webdings. I copy and paste into a word program and can read everything. I am glad that you are there and that the assessments were so revealing. I pray God's blessing on the teams work and that the children will show great growth during your visit.
